In October of 2007, the Marvin Lewis Community Fund met a real need and gave a big boost to the ProScan Pink Ribbon Center’s efforts by helping to break down another barrier to women needing mammograms. In order to change this, the Marvin Lewis Community Fund spearheaded an effort with National City, Baker Concrete, McCluskey Chevrolet, the Cincinnati Bengals, Radio One, Kroger and the Cris Collinsworth ProScan foundation to provide two 15 passenger Pink Vans to drive around the city and take qualified women to and from mammograms and treatment if needed. The breast Cancer Awareness Campaign that was launched on October 9, 2007 is called “Cruisin for a Cure… Are you on Board?”

The ProScan Pink Ribbon center is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Transportation is available during their hours of operation. The center accepts walk-in patients and Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance.
The combination of the vans coupled with a strong radio presence at numerous health fairs has been substantially measurable. Although there is still a great deal of anticipated growth, October of 2007 was a HUGELY successful month for the center as it drew its first record high: 79 patients! In November the center screened 53 patients up from 7 patients last year.
The Marvin Lewis Community Fund, Anthony Munoz Foundation and Cris Collinsworth ProScan Foundation proudly support the ProScan Pink Ribbon Women’s Center in Over-the-Rhine. The center is an American College of Radiology (ACR) accredited mammography screening center and has been open since October of 2005. The center serves all women in the community and has a special passion for serving low-income, uninsured women. The center is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., offers flexible appointments, serves walk-in patients and in most cases, can serve women immediately, eliminating much of the wait associated with mammograms. The center accepts Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance. Through the Pink Ribbon Mammogram Match program, the center is also able to provide funded mammograms and additional diagnostic test for those who qualify.

If further diagnostic tests are needed, women can be seen under the very same program at ProScan Pink Ribbon Center Red Bank located at 4850 Red Bank Expressway. ProScan Pink Ribbon Center Red Bank offers screenings and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasound, osteoporosis screening, stereo tactic and ultrasound biopsies.
If treatment is needed, the center will refer patients to the Ohio Breast and Cervical Cancer Project.
