2004 Hometown Huddle

Community partners and Cincinnati Bengals pose for a picture

Hometown Huddle is an NFL initiative in partnership with United Way. The community project happens in all 32 NFL markets on the same day. The program is meant to leave a lasting impression on the community while promoting volunteerism in the region. Bengals players, the students and teachers along with hundreds of volunteers will roll up their sleeves and spend a day refurbishing a local elementary school. You will have a chance to grab a paintbrush, shovel or whatever it takes to help refurbish both the inside and outside of the school. The goal is to work with the entire community to rebuild and impact the lives of the children at Rothenberg Elementary School and their community.

Why: During a tour of the Vine Street Elementary School, Marvin Lewis and his Fund Team realized that the school was in need of a pick me up. The goal is to help create an environment where these children would thrive and take pride in their surroundings. Coach Lewis, the Cincinnati Bengals, United Way of Greater Cincinnati and several community partners feel that not only is it important to share their resources but the value, impact and importance of volunteerism.
